Understanding Jacklighting

Jacklighting is the practice of shining a light into a forest or a field at night, to find animals for hunting. This can be done with car headlights, spotlights, searchlights or other lights, mounted on a vehicle or not. The animals are temporarily blinded and stand still, making it easier for hunters to kill them. In some areas, jacklighting is illegal because it is considered unsporting and dangerous because the hunters cannot see far enough beyond the targeted animal. Laws Regarding Jacklighting Where jacklighting is illegal, the law has a specific definition of the prohibited activity. For example, in Indiana: (b) A person may not knowingly throw or cast the rays of any spotlight or other artificial light:(1) not required by law on a motor vehicle; and(2) in search of or upon any wild bird or wild animal;from a vehicle while the person possesses a firearm, bow, or crossbow, if by throwing or casting the rays a wild bird or wild animal could be killed. This subsection applies even though the animal is not killed, injured, shot at, or otherwise pursued.(c) A person may not take any wildlife, except furbearing mammals, with the aid of illumination of any spotlight, searchlight, or other artificial light.(d) A person may not shine a spotlight, searchlight, or other artificial light for the purpose of taking, attempting to take, or assisting another person to take a deer. In New Jersey, the law states: No person or persons while in or on a vehicle shall throw or cast the rays of any illuminating device including, but not limited to, a spotlight, flashlight, floodlight or headlight, which is affixed to a vehicle or which is portable, on or in any area where deer may reasonably be expected to be found, while having in his or their possession or control, or in or on the vehicle, or any compartment thereof, whether or not the vehicle or compartment is locked, any firearm, weapon or other instrument capable of killing deer. Additionally, hunting at night is illegal in some states, whether or not a spotlight is being used. Some states specify which types of animals may be hunted with spotlights at night. Vehicle Anti-lock Braking Traction Control Understand vehicle anti-lock braking traction control and Integrated dynamic stability control systems.   Introduction I have learned that the anti-lock braking systems (ABS) are electronic systems that monitor and control wheel slip during vehicle braking, as well as the ABSs can improve vehicle control during braking, and reduce stopping distances on slippery road surfaces by limiting wheel slip and maintaining lockup. Also, the reducing wheel spin improves the vehicle stability and control during braking, since stability increases as wheel slip decreases. Assessment Criteria 2.1 It is correct to assume that due to the increased loads on steered wheels and wider tyres there is a large effort required at the steering wheel it makes the driver ability to control the car very tiring and difficult, especially when steering the vehicle at very low speeds like parking and reversing. There are improvements such as an increase in the mechanical efficiency of the steering system or lowering steering box ratios to help reduce the driver fatigue, however if the steering mechanism is not limited the increased number of turns made by the steering wheel to move it from lock to lock becomes disturbing. When the steering effort exceeds a safe maximum, a method must be found and power-assisted steering (PAS) seems to answer certain requirements: 1. It must be fail-safe, if the power system fails, the driver must still be able to retain effective control. 2. The degree of assistance must be proportional to the effort applied by the driver, and the driver must be able to continue to have the feel of the wheels. On light vehicles, hydraulic and electronic power the assistance is used to help the driver steer the vehicle. Hydraulically operated power-assisted systems run by a constant pressure or constant flow layout. The diagram below, shows the essential components required to operate a constant flow system with rack-and-pinion steering system. In addition to the normal steering components, the system requires: A pump, and A control valve. The reservoir supplies the hydraulic fluid to the power-steering control valve that is joined to the pinion shaft. When it is driven on a straight ahead position the valve is placed in a neutral position, allowing the fluid to go around continuously through the hydraulic circuit. The fluid pressure acting on the power cylinder is equal so no assistance is given to the steered wheels. When the steered wheels are turned through the action of the driver giving movement to the pinion shaft and control valve, then the torsion bar connected to the control valve to the pinion shaft will twist. The torsional movement of the control valve will direct fluid pressure from the pump through to one side of the power cylinder. When the fluid pressure is acted upon on the power cylinder it creates a force to the side of the cylinder providing the necessary assistance to the driver in turning the steered wheel, the control valve normally sits in the neutral position, thus providing equal pressure to both sides of the power cylinder and requiring no longer the assistance is required. Hilliers (2012) The hydraulic pump is an eccentric rotor or also named a vane-type driven by the vee belt from the engine crankshaft. Some of the hydraulic pumps are put in place onto the new cars that are electronic to improve on the performing of the engine by not drawing power from the belt via the crankshaft. The pump is supplied by hydraulic fluid from either an integral reservoir or a remote arrangement. The type of fluid used is usually an automatic transmission fluid (ATF) which has low viscosity. The pressure is created in the pump by the rotation of the vane or rotor, the fluid under pressure is sent to the spool control valve. The maximum pressure that the pump can produce is normally around 7MNm squared or 1,0001bf in squared. This is controlled by a pressure relief valve. The normal pressure is generally proportional to the engine speed because of the direct linkage with the power-steering pump. Any excess pressure released by the pressure relief valve is redirected back to the fluid reservoir. Nowadays in most modern production vehicles a far on power steering system will also include features such as a system to alter the power assistance depending on the road and engine speed. This is done by fitting a valve in the system allowing full force during low speed manoeuvring increasing the assistance for the driver. During high road speeds and engine speeds the valve will modulate the pressure through the hydraulic steering system limiting the amount of assistance and enabling the driver to feel the road and the steered wheels. Vehicle handling is very much improved and so is the stability of the car. The control valve, shows a kind of rotary motion type control valve which is regulated by a torsion bar which is positioned between the steering shaft and the pinion of the steering box. The valve is commonly called a rotary control valve which is a shaft with a series of flutes encased by a sleeve which has the same number of internal axial grooves. The ports situated around the outside of the sleeve and shaft pass the oil from the pump supply to the lines connected to the ram chambers. The operation principles of the PAS system provide the following control functions: Road speed sensitive power assistance Assisted steering return Both functions are the result of the motor voltage control by the ECU. The ECU determines the voltage supply to the motor based on the following data: The force applied to the steering wheel by the driver The vehicle speed The steering angle position and The speed of steering angle change The torque sensor measures the input force applied by the drive, when the driver turns the steering wheel the torsion bar between the two halves of the steering column will twist. The amount of twist is proportional to the force applied. Active suspension may be generally divided into two main classes, pure active suspension and adaptive semi-active suspension. Active suspensions only vary the shock absorber firmness to match changing road conditions, the active suspension use some type of actuator to raise and lower the chassis independently at each wheel. The technologies allow the manufacturers nowadays to achieve a greater ride of quality and car handling by keeping the tyres perpendicular to the road in corners allowing for better traction control. The on-board computer detects body movement from the sensors throughout the vehicle and using this data controls the action of the active and semi-active suspension. Active suspension eliminates body roll and pitch variation in most driving situations including cornering, accelerating, and braking. The active suspension also known as computerized ride control have components like a computer or two ECU, adjustable shocks and springs, a series of sensors at each wheel and right through the car and an actuator or servo at each shock and spring. The components may vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer. The active suspension works by constantly sensing changes in the road surface and feeding that information, via the ECU to the outlying components. The components act upon the system to modify its character adjusting shock stiffness, spring rate and to improve ride performance drivability and responsiveness. The hydraulic pressure to the servo is supplied by a high pressure radial piston hydraulic pump. There are 13 sensors continually monitoring the body movement and vehicle level and supply the ABS controller with new data every ten milliseconds. Four level sensors one at each wheel measures the longitudinal and transverse body acceleration. At each hydraulic cylinder a pressure sensor monitors the hydraulic pressure. As the ABS controller receives and possesses data, it operates four hydraulic servos, each mounted in series on a spring strut, besides each wheel. Almost immediately the servo regulates the suspension which generates counter forces to body lean, dive and squat during several driving manoeuvres. There is a suspension strut which consists of a steel coil spring and a shock absorber connected in parallel. The Active Body Control system (ABC) also allows for self-levelling suspension which raises and lowers the vehicle in response to the ever-changing load. Every vehicle equipped with ABC has an ABC Sport button which allows the driver to adjust the suspension range for different driving style preferences. The feature allows the driver ton adjust the suspension to maintain a more level ride in a more demanding driving conditions. Motor-car.co.uk (2016) Assessment Criteria 2.3 The steering angle sensor (SAS) is a critical part of the ESC system that measures the steering wheel position angle and rate turn. A scan tool can be used to get the data in degrees. The SAS, which is located, in a sensor cluster in the steering column. The cluster always has more than one steering column. The ESC module must receive two signals to confirm the steering position. The signals are often out of phase with each other. The analog SASs are very much alike to the throttle position sensors, SASs are wired with a 5-volt reference, chassis ground and signal output and can be tested via a port under the steering column. When the steering wheel is turned, the SASs produces a signal that varies between 0 and 5 volts as the wheel is turned 360 degrees. It is possible to observe the 0 to 5-volt signal with meters connected to the SAS sensors. When the wheels are straight forward the sensors reads about 2.8v and 4v. If the readings are the same the two sensors could be shortened tog ether. Most vehicles produce a positive voltage turning right and a negative voltage turning left. A multi-meter could be used to test the voltage signal produced by the SAS sensors. The release and reapply of the brakes pedal will avoid the locking of the   Ã‚   wheels which in turn avoids the skidding. This is exactly what an antilock braking system does. The pressure modulation works when the brake pedal is pumped or pulsed, the pressure is quickly applied and released at the wheels. This is called pressure modulation, which works to prevent the wheels from locking. The ABS system can modulate the pressure to the brake as often as 15 times per second. ABS precisely controls the slip rate of the wheels to ensure maximum grip force from the tyres and therefore ensures easy manoeuvre and stability for the driver of the vehicle. The slip rate during ABS operation varies, the target slip rate can be from 10 to 30%. 0% slip means the wheel is rolling freely, while 100% means the wheel is fully locked. A slip rate of 25% means the velocity of a wheel is 25% less than that of a freely rolling wheel at the same vehicle speed. The antilock hydraulic control valve assembly controls the release and application of the brake system pressure to the wheel brake assemblies. The booster pump is used to provide pressurized hydraulic fluid to the ABS (Antilock braking system). The booster/master cylinder assembly is needed to modulate hydraulic pressure in the wheel circuit during the ABS operations. The fluid accumulator temporarily stores the brake fluid that is removed from the wheel brake unit during the ABS cycle. A hydraulic control unit may have one pump and one motor or it may have one motor and two pumps. The main valve is made up of a two-position valve and is opened only in the ABS mode. A modulator unit controls the flow of pressurized brake fluid to the individual wheel circuits. With any major change in any large institution of society, there are going to be advantages and disadvantages. It is important in judging any change by looking at the overall good and bad that is taking place from the change. So as No Child Left Behind is reviewed, it is important to take a look at the motives and ideals placed within the legislation, but to also consider the drawbacks. Title I, Part A, headlined "Closing the Achievement Gap for Disadvantaged Students," shows that America has am emphasis on true democratic ideals. There is an obvious oppression that is keeping all students in America from having the same starting point, which inhibits America acting as a true free market society. In this article she discusses her view of arranged marriages. Ms. Gitangeli approves of arranged marriage, it is stated that people who get married for â€Å"love† has a 40% rate of divorce. She also states that arranged marriages have a lower rate of divorce for the fact that the couples do not want to start a wrath between their families. Is arranged marriage right or wrong?Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I disagree with arranged marriage; I believe that families should not have the right to set up their children with who they think best suits their child. I believe marriage is about two people who love, support and respect each other. When to Capitalize Religious Terms When to Capitalize Religious Terms Knowing when to capitalize religious terms can be hell. Or should that be Hell? And there we get to the crux of the matter. Are words from religions always capitalized? Is it only when you use these terms in a religious context? Or should you just say â€Å"to heck with it† and stop caring? Well, before you do that, check out our guide to capitalizing religious terms. When to Capitalize Religious Terms As a guideline, you should usually capitalize the first letter of religious terms when they are used as a proper noun. This is a noun that names a unique entity, such as â€Å"Barbra Streisand† or â€Å"Donald Duck.† In a religious context, proper nouns may include: Religions and religious movements (e.g., Judaism, Methodism) Religious figures and deities (e.g., Jesus, Zeus) Holy texts (e.g., Bible, Quran) Religious holidays (e.g., Easter, Diwali) Titles when used with a name (e.g., Reverend Green) However, there are some cases where the correct capitalization depends on how you’re using a term. We will look at a few of these below. God, Gods, Goddesses and Proper Nouns As mentioned above, you should always capitalize the first letter in a proper noun. If you were referring to the Christian deity, for instance, you would need to capitalize the â€Å"G† in â€Å"God†: I am here only by the grace of God. But some words, like â€Å"god,† can be either proper or common nouns depending on how we use them. Catholic tastes ≠  A liking for Gothic architecture and stained glass. Likewise, we would capitalize the â€Å"M† in â€Å"Mass† if we were talking about the religious ceremony. But we would not usually capitalize the same word when using it as an adjective in â€Å"mass market† or â€Å"mass transit.† It pays, then, to double check whether religious terms have other uses. Holy Pronouns In the past, it was common to capitalize the first letters of pronouns when referring to religious figures. This is known as reverential capitalization. For instance, if we used â€Å"his† to refer to God, we might capitalize the â€Å"H†: Our hearts shall rejoice in God and His holy name! This is quite unusual in modern writing. However, if you do use reverential capitalization, there are two key rules to follow: Only apply it to pronouns that refer to deities and divine beings. Apply it consistently throughout your writing. To ensure consistency, you may also want to have your writing proofread. But if you do, let your editor know which terms you’ve chosen to capitalize. Heaven and Hell Finally, we have heaven and hell. As a rule, you do not need to capitalize these terms. The purpose of this assessment is to determine the actual and potential health needs of the community. Conclusions related to real and potential health problems were drawn based on an analysis of the physical environment, and social facilities, communication, educational facilities, shopping facilities, and the local health care facilities of Rogers Park. Data was collected by tour around the neighborhood, personal observations, assessment of local publications, and by an analysis of selected statistical and demographic data. Specific statistical data included age distribution, annual family income by race, highest level of income completed, infant mortality rates, reportable illnesses, and the leading causes of death for the Rogers Park Community. A HISTORICAL OVERVIEW OF ROGERS PARK. Rogers Park is a small community that is located approximately ten mile north of Chicago’s Loop, at the northeast city limits. The Pottawattomie Indians first ceded the land in 1821. The first white settler to arrive was an Irish immigrant named Phillip Rogers, whom the community in now named after. The development of Rogers Park began with a  glacier that created the ridge that now gives Ridge Avenue its name (Chicago Sun-Times, 2000). The ridge was a raised shelf of land that extended west from the lakeshore. Ridge Road was the only route available at this time that permitted travel north or south through the Roger Park area. Ridge Road provided routes for mail delivery, trade travel, and stagecoach travels (Local Community Fact Book, 1990). The combination of the elevated marshy land, and easy access to textiles and other goods, encouraged Irish, Scottish, German, and English farmers to settle in along Ridge Road to further develop the land. After Phillip Rogers’s death in 1856, a substantial amount of land, 1600 acres, was passed on to his daughter Catherine, and her husband Captain Patrick Touhy. They were responsible for establishing and developing some of the first churches in the area. Captain Touhy collaborated with other settlers and eventually formed the Rogers Park Building and Land Company in 1873. It was also during this time that the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad established their presence in the area. The railroad facilitated easier access and transportation in and out of the community for the local residents. In 1878 Rogers Park was incorporated as a village with the natural boundaries west of Lake Michigan extending to the ridge of Ridge Avenue. When combined with the boundaries of Rogers and Devon Avenues, the area now recognized as Rogers Park became clearly defined. Clark Street, originally known as Green Bay Road, was an important Indian trail. It later served as the main link between Fort Dearborn in Chicago, and Fort Howard in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The early 1900’s were rapidly developing two story family homes in the eastern portion of Rogers Park. It was at this time that annexation to Chicago was greatly  welcomed by the local residents. Also, the residents of Rogers Park demanded that a park district be developed in their community at this time. Today Rogers Park has some thirteen public parks to its credit, as well as six field houses, which provides numerous extracurricular activities for both children and adults throughout the year. POPULATION As the population continued to grow, from a mere 3500 in 1893 to 7500 in 1904, there was yet another major development. The Jesuits purchased a twenty-acre space along Lake Michigan and developed what is recognized today as the Loyola University Campus. The arrival of Loyola University helped to ensure the community’s growth in providing a place for a higher education as well as the opportunity for employment. Through the construction and establishment of the school. Local Irish parishioners, being faithful and loyal, moved near Loyola University to utilize the newly built frame church that was constructed at the same time as the university campus. By the 1930’s Russian Jews were second in number only to the Germans throughout the Rogers Park area. From 1930 to 1950 the Jewish population nearly tripled, and by 1960 they were the largest ethnic group inhabiting the area. In 1950, the population of Rogers Park reached an all time high with over 62,000 residents inhabiting the area. Since that time, the population of Rogers Park has maintained a range between 55,000 and 60,000 (Local Community Fact Book, 1990). EDUCATION The elementary schools consist of classrooms, laboratories, music rooms, library, gym, computer rooms and cafeteria. High school students achieve scores averages for ACT is 22.   4 to 23. 7. The students in the elementary schools scores well on IGAP mathematics and reading skill tests Comparison of Educational Levels (Table 7a, 7b), These tables compare the  distribution of educational levels by race as well as by age between the period of 1980 and 1990 for the community of Rogers Park and the City of Chicago. We can see from the information presented, from 1980 to1990, that there was a 73% increase in the number of persons, 18 and over, who have reached the educational level of a bachelor’s degree. The table also shows that whites have had a 51% decrease in the numbers of those who have attained a bachelor’s degree from 1980 to 1990. Also, the total number of those who have attained their high school diploma within the 25+-year old  age group indicates a drop of 77% from 1980 to 1990. The total number of bachelor’s degrees achieved by the 25+ age group, across the board, including all of the races surveyed, indicates a decrease of 71% from 1980 to 1990. While there is a decrease noted in the white race, there is a definite increase noted in the black race from 1980 to 1990. The black race indicates a 34% increase in those who have graduated from high school, and a 32% increase in those who have obtained a bachelor’s degree. These tables indicate changes in the educational levels of all races within the  community of Rogers Park from the time period contained within the 10 year span. The drop in educational level attained by the white race could signify a shift of the more educated whites out of the neighborhood. The rise in the numbers of blacks, who have attained a higher number with a higher level of education, may signify that with higher education comes higher pay and those included in this category may be capable of better affording the cost of living in the Rogers Park community. MACBETH CHOICE 2 - Compare the changes in Macbeth and Lady Macbeth as a result of the murder of King Duncan. How are they before the murder, and what happens to each of them and their relationship after the initial murder? What I know of Macbeth I believe that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were quite greedy and selfish. Macbeth was forced into his own fate by the greed of his wife. Lady Macbeth let popularity and the Queenship get to her and she practically made Macbeth murder Duncan the King of Scotland. She knew once Duncan was dead Macbeth would become Kind and then she would automatically be casted Queen. Before the murder Lady Macbeth plays the role of boss, in my opinion she tells Macbeth what to do every step of the way. Lady Macbeth is calm, excited, very greedy and quite ambitious as her husband, she taunts Macbeth’s courage to insure that he will murder Duncan and become King. Macbeth is a little bit more on a different path. Macbeth is one of Duncan’s most courageous generals, his driving ambition to become King of Scotland corupts him and causes him to murder Duncan and order the slaying of anyone who threatens his Kingship. When Macbeth murders Duncan he then on watches everyone around him. Being scared that he will be founded. Banquo is Macbeth’s closest friend and also a general in Duncan’s army. Soon after Macbeth murders Duncan, Macbeth fears that Banquo suspects him of murdering Duncan, so Macbeth once again jumps to conclusions and he arranges to have Banquo murdered. At this point I believe that Macbeth would be quite scared because he has his closest friend killed for thinking Banquo knew that Macbeth murdered Duncan. At this point Lady Macbeth is isolated and not involved in the plan. She attempts to lighten Macbeth’s mood. They are both restless and sleepless. Macbeth during a dinner see’s Banquo’s ghost twice. Macbeth is completely unnerved and ready to blurt out his guilt to those assembled, but quick thinking Lady Macbeth gets to him before he can do that. She dismisses everyone present. At this moment in time after the murder Macbeth is scared and feels utterly guilty. When Macduff, a Scottish general gets on the scene, Macduff strongly suspects Macbeth of murdering Duncan. When the accusation gets out Macbeth immediately has Macduff’s family murdered. Macduff then swears vengeance to kill Macbeth. Everything is moving so fast and by this time everyone suspects Macbeth of murdering Duncan, at this time Lady Macbeth’s fear and remorse eventually causes her to go mad. Lady Macbeth now is quite ill, sleepwalking and talking in her sleep.

Well this made mad; and the punishment was a woman named Pandora, who was the first woman created. She carried around a box and was not supposed to open it. Well one day, her curiosity got to her, and she opened the box. Out of the box came the evils that still fill the world today. One can see the parallel between christianitys creation story and this one. Another story about history is that of the Trojan War. It was set in Troy, and was an epic battle that lasted ten years. The story of one mans journey to and from this war, Odysseus, is told in the story The Odyssey. Many things can be learned from this story and will be shown in the next few paragraphs. : Second are values, which are things that a culture honors. Here are some values that the Greeks honored and the stories that told them: Curiosity can be dangerous, from Prometheus and Pandora, because of Pandoras curiosity evil was let into the world. Choices equal consequenses and jealousy equals selfishness, from Medusa, because the king was so jealous and wanted Perseus mother he ended up dying. Obeying your parents or following wise advice, from Daedalus and Icarus, because if Icarus would have listened to his father, he wouldn have died.
